Following our Latest News Post in May that construction in Centre Vale Park had just begun we’re delighted to announce that our joint funding with the Town Council has meant that the Wheels Park has finally been realised and was opened ahead of schedule this month.
To celebrate this long-awaited facility, the Town Council are hosting the ‘Official Opening’ of the Wheels Park during the coming Bank Holiday.
They are inviting all budding and experienced Skateboarders, Scooter users and BMX bikers to join in the event, being held on Sunday 29th August, starting at 9.30 am.
Coaching lessons will be provided in the morning ahead of the official opening by MP Craig Whittaker.
In the afternoon there will be a “jam” session where several demonstrations from very experienced users will take place.
Users of all ages are welcome to join in the event. A limited supply of Helmets will be available for use and for the event where it will be a requirement for access.

Once the event is over, Todmorden Town Council would like to involve volunteers to help monitor the facility and offer help to keep it looking good and sweep it down so all users can enjoy it for many years to come.
The link with our Youth Engagement strategy
One additional feature of this event is the support it will have from the Town Deal Board’s initiated Youth Engagement Team, “The Collective”.
This will be their Launch too as it will be the first time that they will have an opportunity to present themselves to their peer group as a link and conduit to the wider transformational projects which will enhance our town over the next 3-4 years.
