The Town Deal Board made an early commitment to ensure we brought the youth of the Todmorden with us on this transformational journey for the town. We are seeking to engage the under 25s in all aspects of the town deal’s projects.
We want our young people to see their home town with a sense of ownership and a place to be proud to come from and live. We are hopeful this commitment will inspire young budding entrepreneurs, civic leaders and community advocates living in our town to get involved with new Town Deal projects.
We funded young Todmordian Shannon Jackson to commission a youth and community engagement report as a part of our Town Investment Plan when we bid for government funding, which we then followed with the establishment of a youth engagement sub-group.
From this, a youth-led team – The Collective – has been created to bridge the gap between the needs of the young people now and in the future, with the board’s ambitions and those of other lead agencies in the town, such as the Town Council and the business network, Todconnect.
You can read The Collective’s own personal introduction on our Youth Engagement page.
Todmorden Wheels Park Open Day – 29th August 2021
The Collective spent all day at the official opening event and got the chance to chat with lots of the new Wheels Park users as well as having the opportunity to meet many of the Todmorden Town Deal Board and local councillors face to face for the very first time.
