Todmorden
Town Deal

Welcome to the Todmorden Town Deal website

Todmorden, alongside 101 other towns across the UK, has been chosen by the government to submit a bid for up to £25 million worth of investment funding from their Town Fund programme.

The Todmorden Town Deal Board (TTDB), consisting of eight local volunteer representatives from community groups and the private business sector, plus four local councillors, our member of parliament and a representative from the West Yorkshire combined authority, have been working since July to ensure that they can attract the maximum funds available to the town.

The board’s task has been to identify individual development projects which can be collectively pooled to build a coherent Town Investment Plan (TIP) to be submitted to the government for approval in January 2021.

Fortunately, the town has a long history of consultation going back to the Yorkshire Forward renaissance project in 2004. It has been able to draw on a number of credible but so far unfulfilled plans put forward by organisations in the town such as Todmorden Civic Pride, Upper Calder Valley Renaissance, the Town Council and Todmorden’s former Town Board.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done in a short time and new proposals have already been discussed by the board. Details of the criteria for proposal submissions can be found here

Some less formally submitted proposals can also be found on the #MyTown site.

Details of the fund prospectus can be found here: Town Fund Prospectus.

Helping Shape The Future Of Todmorden

On Thursday 7th January 2021 over 150 Todmorden residents and business owners attended one of two online ‘Citizens’ Assembly’ meetings, organised by the Town Deal Board.

There was a presentation of the projects selected for inclusion into Todmorden’s Town Investment Plan bid and an opportunity for attendees to ask any questions they may have.

A copy of the presentation will be available here shortly and there will also be an extended list of FAQ’s that came out from the meetings.
