Project: Todmorden Town Hall
Project: Todmorden Town Hall
Project: Todmorden Town Hall

Introduction

We’re enhancing Todmorden Town Hall to make it more accessible, flexible and sustainable. The £1M improvements will make this Grade I listed building fit for modern-day use and secure its future for the next generation.

The project will renew this Grade I listed building to create a more welcoming and accessible space for the community.

It will build on the improvements that have already been made to the hall’s exterior and interior.

Project Outline

As part of this project, Calderdale Council is:

  • Re-opening the grand entrance and installing an external ramp, allowing visitors to enter through the Victorian lobby
  • Creating a new multi-function reception space
  • Making changes to the courtroom to provide a level and flexible meeting space
  • Adding an accessible unisex toilet facility on the ground floor
  • Installing a new catering kitchen on the first floor, making it easier to cater for large events
  • Adding male and female toilets and changing facilities under the stage area
  • Installing a high-quality audio system in the main hall to be used for events.

What It Will Achieve

Economic Growth

We’re creating opportunities for Todmorden’s local economy to grow. These changes will encourage new investment, greater footfall and more trade.

Heritage

We’re investing in this iconic Grade I listed building so that it can continue to be used and enjoyed for many years to come.

Accessibility

We’re making Todmorden Town Hall more accessible, meaning that more people can visit and enjoy all that this building has to offer.

Multipurpose Space

We’re creating a building that can be used for events, functions and workspace.
