PUBLIC SPACES
The Public Places in the Heart of Todmorden project will develop Bramsche Square into a welcoming, attractive and more accessible public space in Todmorden town centre.
This will help boost local trade and support our popular markets and local businesses, providing a greener and safer environment for people to meet and spend time together.
We will have a town centre where more people want to and can shop locally and buy local products. And we will have a town centre to be even more proud of!
WHAT’S INVOLVED:
Less parking in Bramsche Square to create a new town square and encourage walking and cycling in a safer town centre
Improving visibility of our fine, unique Market Hall and making it easier to access
Supporting our outdoor market traders with new ‘market street’ layout and better electrical supply, water and drainage, and catering for a broad range of potential traders
Being more sustainable by exploring opportunities for renewable energy
More planting and enhancing existing green space for health and wellbeing
Reducing opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour
Including some flexible spaces to support some events and activities
